Prioir to being called into the ministry by God, Dr. Edward Blackwelder served as Chairman of the Departments of Criminal Justice and Paralegal Studies at a one of Alabama’s larger community colleges. His specialization was researching the cause and effect of mass, serial, and spree murder. During his tenure as a college professor Dr. Blackwelder came to know many of our nation’s most “infamous” mass, serial, and spree killers including Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Kenneth Bianchi, John Wayne Gacy, Wayne Williams, Susan Atkins and many others. He was standing at the side of killer Ernest Dobbert when Dobbert died in Florida’s electric chair.

Dr. Blackwelder’s many years of criminology research led him to establish Criminology Research Project, Inc in an effort to make his vast collection of crime related research available to students, professors and professionals of every nature.

Today, Dr. Blackwelder is retired from the academic community but has continued his ministry to this “sub-culture” and has consulted with a number of media outlets that sought him out for his knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Blackwelder, during his tenure as a criminologist, discovered that “rehabilitation” does not work within a correctional environment, the proof being the extremely high percentage of return inmates once released. “Dr. B.” found that “regeneration” was the key to a successful inmate parole and that this “regeneration” comes only through an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. He gave these high profile inmates regular “doses” of God’s Word and saw very few return to a life of crime once released.
